How it works

Zephmail becomes a local MCP server that your AI connects to.

Add your account

Add Gmail or others. Your password is stored in the OS keychain.

Start AI integration

Start the server from “AI integration” and register the shown command in Claude Code / Codex.

Just talk to it

“Summarize my unread,” “draft a reply” — results appear in Zephmail. You approve sending.

You can copy the URL and token with one click from the app’s “AI integration” panel.

What the AI can do (MCP)

The AI you connect can do the following. Sending and deleting always need your approval.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free of API charges?

Yes. Zephmail itself never calls AI APIs. Your Claude Code / Codex connects to Zephmail (the MCP server), so AI usage stays within your own subscription.

Are Claude Code or Codex required?

You can use it as an email client without AI. To use the AI features you need Claude Code or Codex (an MCP-capable client).

Will the AI send email on its own?

No. The AI can only create drafts and “send requests.” Actual sending happens only when you approve it in Zephmail.

Where are passwords stored?

Your email password is stored securely in the Windows Credential Manager (the OS keychain). Nothing is saved to a plaintext file.

Does it support providers other than Gmail?

It works with any email service that supports IMAP/SMTP. It auto-detects server settings for Gmail, Outlook, and more.
